This past week NASCAR went to Vegas and the number 99 came away with a win, hooray, unfortunately the car was found to have a part missing leading to the constant penalties discussion that hangs like a cloud over the entire NASCAR community. Last year Jeff Gordan and Jimmie Johnson were penalized 25 points a sum of money and their crew chiefs were suspended for 6 races for having their rear suspension too low, a justifiable penalty but Robby Gordon (no relation) was accused but never proven of throwing debris out of the window causing a crash as a penalty for this unproven accusation he was docked 50 points in the standings pushing him out of the top 35 in points therefore causing him to have to qualify for the next race which he failed to. NASCAR has a proven history of letting the stars of the sport off with what amounts to a slap on the wrist, whereas they come down hard on the nonames of the sport there by making a so called example of them. Now my opinion is if the car in questions alterations did not affect the outcome of the race such as the gordon, johnson and edwards incidants then what is the point of making them forfeit points, regardless of that the penalties have to be constant across the board not penalizing someone just because they have millions of fans is not a valid reason. They criticize their drivers for physical confrontations and claim that they are trying to get away from that but where are the penalties? Edwards and Kenseth, J. Gordon and Kenseth, Busch and Stewart, R. Gordon and Waltrip, Stewart and Edwards the list goes on yet no penalties for these infractions would it not make sense to take points away from them for this type of thing since they are trying to clean up the sport, or so they say. NASCAR if you're gonna spew out crap about being clean and truthful sport then back it up with fair punishments for crimes commited by all drivers.

We get penalties even at dirt track races, if your motor has too much horsepower.
It's their own stupidity... No one elses. They asked to be caught.
