Matt Stajan, Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs?

As many of you leafs fans know Mats Sundins statis for next year is in doubt thus the discussion arises about who should succeed him as captain. Many say that Tucker or Kaberle should get it or that they shouldn't have one captain but four alternates. Im here to suggest that Matt Stajan be handed the C of hockeys most profitable team. In the stretch run while Sundin was injured Stajan exhibited tremendous leadership and with the help of Alex Steen helped pull the leafs through and keep them in the playoff hunt probably for longer than they deserved to be. Coming out of the lockout the team was wihtout a players union rep and despite it being a thankless job which most of the players dont want Stajan volunteered and has since been very vocal about anything surrounding the team. That is one of the things people enjoyed so much about Sundin is his willingness to talk to the media no matter the situation and to always answer their questions. After the 4-2 loss to Boston which knocked toronto out of the playoff hunt while many other players were brooding in their stalls Stajan addressed the media personally taking it upon himself. Matt Stajan will never be the best player on the Toronto Maple Leafs but he is the ready to take over the hallowed honour that is captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
